Convert Your DWG To Detail Lines

The Basic Of How To Export From Autocad To Revit Conversion Factors And Dimensional AnalysisI never told the OP to use one template or another. I already knew the drawing he received was metric. You can make a template for any unit you wish. That still won't change the fact that the program written for AutoCAD does not care what unit you use to create an object. It only gives results of the input a user provides, using the Cartesian Coordinate System. Compare apples to oranges all day long it does not change the facts. How do you control visibility of the detail file in your plan views? Is the linked CAD file on a separate workset or do you just turn off visibility of the linked file? Have you had any issues with matching ACAD line weights or text styles in the Revit file? It’s too bad there isn’t a way to create dependent views from drafting views. That said, there’s still a lot of room for improvement. First off, the process relies on a lot of different scripts and tools that I created on the fly. I need to consolidate and streamline the tools so the process is easier and smoother. Second, I need to refine the tools to deal with things like arcs and curves in hatches. Doing these hatches manually is only a short-term solution. Lastly, I need a way to automate dimensions. Doing this manually isn’t sustainable for the long run. Done correctly, mixing BIM and CAD can save a lot of time. Why model something when you can communicate the intent in just a few lines and text. And if you already have these details drawn in CAD, it just makes sense to reuse them in Revit.
