I've tried multiple times, and a couple years ago stumbled on fusion360 and have been using it regularly ever since. Its one of the reasons I still use windows as my primary desktop (along with a couple other piece of software that don't have anything similar quality/price on linux). For hobby 3d printing (realistically that's 90% of why hobbyists are interested in CAD now, right?) I would recommend to learn both. OpenScad is very very fast to learn and nothing beats it for simple geometric one off models that you can write down in a few minutes. I guess Solidworks. Mastercam are happy today too. Yet most users could never afford those seat licences in a small shop. I’ve had a MUCH faster learning curve with OpenSCAD than I’ve had with ANY mouse-based CAD software.
